Volitional review
Mario Kart has always been a synonym of fun and quality. Now, with the Nintendo Switch console, the company wanted to release the Deluxe version, the remastered one from the Wii U, but with some new playable options that offer the Switch, both with friends and alone. Without any doubt, it turns the best game of the saga.
This game is about car races, with some characters that everyone knows, such as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Princess Peach, Bowser, etc. As a driver, you have to try to finish the first one after completing all the laps, also trying to obstruct your rivals with some objects that have benefits for you or obstacles for the others. It’s as simple as that, but it’s not that easy, because it could turn the tables at the last second.
What I like the most, is the gameplay because you have many options according to the level you are. You have different types of racing, from 50cc to 200cc (the “cc” means the Cubic Centimeters, when the cc is higher, the motor is more voluminous and the speed is even higher) each one has their own difficulty. Also, I like the different types of cars and motorbikes, where each of them has some peculiarities or others, changing the handling, the acceleration, the speed, the traction or the weight, these things can change depending on the car, the pneumatics or the kite you choose. For example, if you want to have a good velocity, it’s obvious that you have to choose a fast car, but you have to think that if you put a fast pneumatic, the acceleration decreases. In addition, if the character has much weight, the car would not be so fast.
Furthermore, I like the different races where you can compete, because there are the oldest ones that take you back to your childhood, and the newest ones which have spectacular designs. Also, they are updating new ones until 2023, but you must have an extra pass to be able to play them, which costs about 25 euros. That is one of the things that I don’t like, because the pass is too expensive to just add a few new races. Instead, they should get better at innovating and try to get out of their comfort zone, because they are just adapting the game into the new console. They know that this works, but Nintendo should try to add more modes and variants to the game.
If you are a big fan of Nintendo and Mario Bros’ games, you should play it. Ever since I was a kid, I spent lots of hours playing Mario Kart on Nintendo DS, which was one of my favourite games after Pokémon. So, it doesn’t matter if you are a child or an adult, because you can adjust the difficulty of the game, so everyone is welcome to play it. Here you have a gameplay of a race “https://youtu.be/qRNv3FpnvMg“, where you can see how the races look like, with their obstacles and advantages.
In summary, under its simple and accessible appearance, the title is one of the most refined and polished designs of this Mario Kart’s saga. This gameplay offers us a variety of games and experiences, where each race is different. Despite being similar to the previous ones, Nintendo doesn’t stop surprising us.
