Participation in seminars (20 h) on campus is obligatory for all (no hybrid or online teaching).

The seminars are taught in English. The reflective texts can be written in English or in Finnish. 

If the student participates actively in seminars and write reflective texts related to the seminars and course literature, they can obtain 5 ECTS (5 op). 

If the student participates actively in seminars, write reflective texts, and participate in a joint project , they can obtain 10 ECTS (10 op). The project can be either a Demola -project or a theoretical project which students plan and conduct themselves (more information will be given in seminars). Please note that you want to join a Demola-project, you have to apply for this separately, see portal.demola.net

In seminars, theoretical perspectives concerning adults’ learning and knowledge will be introduced. Adults’ learning will be examined in both informal and formal contexts. The students will explore and discuss studies on adults’ learning and knowledge construction in various settings, such as culturally diverse workplaces, higher education institutions, and transnational communities including migrants and non-migrants.
