This course will explore the development of both translation studies as a discipline and translation as a professional activity. It will also cover the development of professional processes (translators’ competences, information sources, proofreading and revision, the role of translation technology, ethics, modes of interpreting, and the language services industry).
In addition, the course will explain the basic concepts involved in the research of terminology, the principles of concept systems, and the creation of definitions. The basics of translation memory tools will also be covered.
