- Completion options
The module examines the diversity of migration, its historical roots, its local and global contexts and the social and cultural processes engendered by it, drawing on the discussion informed by the social anthropological concept of culture, the legacy of colonialism and cross-border migration. In addition to migration, the module discusses the cross-border movement of artefacts and ideas. The implications of cultural and social divisions, such as ethnicity and race, and the practices of marginalisation are examined in various cultural and public contexts. Cultural diversity is approached both as a theoretical concept as well as a social practice.
