The course unit focuses on examining the interplay between literary texts and their shifting sociohistorical contexts. Students choose one Literary Revolutions -course from a range of special topic courses: the course options provide different historical, thematic, aesthetic and theoretical perspectives on the interaction between literary and social transformations.

Examining a range of texts from different historical periods in British literary culture, the course examines how literature engages with and contributes to transformations in British society and culture,and explores the interconnections between innovations in literary form and themes of societal revolution and change.
