Core content
- Basic terminology related to switching-mode converters
- Structure and behavior of the basic non-isolated voltage-fed converters: buck, boost and buck-boost with parasitics in CCM and in DCM
- Structure and behavior of the basic voltage-fed transformer-isolated converters: Forward, Flyback, Half and Full Bridge
- Meaning of power factor and its correction principles by means of power elctronic converters
- The behavioral phenomena and power loss mechanism in the basic power electronic swicthing devices: Diode, MOSFET, and IGBT
Complementary knowledge
- Main control principles such as direct-duty-ratio control, peak-current-mode control, and average-current-mode control
- Structure and behavior of active-reset forward converter and transformer-isolated boost converter
- Construction and operation of PFC converters based boost and flyback converter
Specialist knowledge
- Structure and behavior of the basic current-fed converters: Buck, Boost, and buck-boost
- Structure and behavior of three-level bridge converters
- Construction and operation of boundary-conduction-mode boost converter
