  • Thermodynamics and kinetics of phase transformations. Diffusional phase transformations. Precipitation: mechanisms of nucleation and nucleus growth. Diffusionless phase transfomations: massive and martensitic transformations. Bainitic transformation
  • Classicall heat treatments and their effect on structure and properties
  • Solidification, principles of nucleation and nucleus growth.

  • Diffusion: mechanisms and influencing factors.
  • Utilization of equilibrium diagrams, Time-Temperature-Transformation and continuous cooling diagrams in the design of heat treatments
