Core content

  • Planning and completing a short research project in small team: selecting reasonable testing period and test interval, number of samples and suitable test methods according to biomaterial and sample type in question.
  • Working in a laboratory in safe and ethical manner. Proper use of basic laboratory equipment and selected characterization equipment.
  • Laboratory data handling and management: proper laboratory notes, storing the measurement data. Data processing, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Formats of scientific communication: poster presentations and written reporting

Complementary knowledge

  • Utilizing a suitable ISO or other standard for planning and completing the laboratory work.
  • Statistical data analysis and advanced data interpretation based on the existing literature.

Special knowledge

  • Participating in a scientific seminar or poster session as an audience.
  • Getting an overview on the current research in the field of biomaterials at Tampere University.
