- Biomedical engineering as a multidisciplinary field: reserch fields, medical and health devices, challenges, global markets and industry.
- Engineering approach to human body. Bioelectricity. Biomechanics. Biomedical optics. Fluid mechanics. Biomedical acoustics. Modelling of physiological systems. Control and systems theory applied to physiological systems. Physiolgocal signals generated by the body functions.
- Physical interaction mechanisms of image formation in medical imaging methods. Principles of biomedical imaging systems.

- Future trends in BME research and industry. Health technology industry and biomedical engineering research in Tampere and Finland.
