Within this study unit students will study the characteristics, change, outcomes and negotiations of the labor market. The national employment systems are viewed as social constructions that are the subject of national and international labour legislation on the one hand and the collective bargaining system on the other.

Perspectives that are examined can address the historical stages of production and the emergence and fractures of the wage-labour society, technologies at different times and their effects on jobs, unemployment, unemployment security, informal work, the position of immigrants in the labour market, reproductive work, as well as industrial relations and labour market regulation.
