Learning outcomes

The objective of the Doctoral Programme in Business and Technology Management is to train professional researchers and versatile problem-solvers to serve businesses and other facets of society. The Doctoral Programme in Business and Technology Management provides students with the expertise needed to conduct international research and work in nationally significant expert positions in the programme's fields of research. This scientific business and technology management expertise leads to the creation of new knowledge in the scientific community and promotes the solving of important social problems that require deep analysis.

Students who graduate with a doctoral degree in technology and wish to pursue a career in international research can look forward to working in research and teaching positions in universities and universities of applied sciences, as well as research and management positions in research institutions. Students who graduate with a licentiate or doctoral degree in technology and wish to pursue other expert, management or development tasks can look forward to a wide range of different career paths in the industrial sector and public administration.

Students who complete the programme:

  • have a deep understanding of their own field of research and its societal significance.
  • have acquired the readiness to independently and critically apply scientific research methods and the ability to produce new scientific knowledge.
  • have familiarized themselves with the development, fundamental questions and research methods of their own field of research.
  • have achieved a level of understanding in regard to general scientific theory and other fields related to their own field of research that enables them to follow the development of these fields.
  • have achieved adequate communications and language skills and other preparedness to work in broad and demanding expert and development positions and engage in international cooperation.

Furthermore, the students

  • have a deep understanding of scientific research in the subject matter area of their doctoral dissertation
  • are able to make justified choices in regard to the content of their doctoral dissertation
  • are able to critically analyse prior scientific research
  • are able to write in accordance with good scientific practices
