Conducting Literature Reviews in Educational Research, Seminar

This online course will provide participants with a basis in the design, analysis and interpretation of systematic reviews of educational research. Participants will be given grounding in different aspects involved in conducting a systematic review and will have the opportunity to gain practical experience of the tasks involved. By the end of the course participants will be equipped with the necessary skills to plan and conduct their own systematic reviews.
A mixture of short presentations and hands-on activities are used to introduce participants to major aspects of the review process.
Learning objectives
The aim of the course is to provide students the necessary knowledge to execute a systematic literature review of the field of their dissertations. Upon successfully completing this course, participants will be able to:
· Describe the purpose and role of systematic reviews in the context of other approaches to evidence synthesis
· Describe the principles of systematic reviews
· Know the different resource guidelines for conducting a systematic review
· Critically appraise existing systematic reviews
· Plan and conduct their own systematic reviews
