Competence Module in Responsible Business and Sustainability, Open University Studies, 5–20 cr

The module focuses on core themes and issues related to corporate responsibility and sustainability in business, such as business ethics, stakeholder management, responsibility reporting, environmental responsibility and sustainability practices in various kinds of organisations. The studies include various learning methods, such as lectures, essays, group work, and exams and the study topics are illustrated with practical case examples. The module includes both lecture and independent study options.

Having completed the module, the student recognises and understands the elements of responsible and sustainable business. The student understands the relationships between social, environmental, and economic issues in business and is familiar with the challenges related to their interlinkages. The student knows the theoretical underpinnings of business ethics, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability in business. The student is able to identify and apply tools for organisational accountability and responsible business practices.
