Advanced Studies in Comparative Social Policy and Welfare, 120 cr

The advanced studies in Comparative Social Policy and Welfare consists of the following studies:

- Conceptual Approaches to the Comparative Study of Welfare Production, 20 credits

- National Systems of Welfare and Society, 15 credits

- Empirical Research Methodology, 15 credits

- Elective studies, Internship and Academic Writing, 30 credits

- Master's Thesis and Thesis Seminar, 40 credits


Objectives

The graduates of COSOPO have a broad and profound understanding of social policy as a science and practice. They are able to interpret and use international material on social policy phenomena. They have the skills to research, evaluate and develop social policy and to propose alternative solutions to prevailing practices and thinking. They have excellent skills in acquiring and applying research knowledge in professional and other societal practices and are able to conduct research and report results in a scientifically and ethically acceptable manner. A graduate in social policy is an expert who identifies, analyzes and solves problems related to wellbeing, social policy systems and civil society. They have a wide range of capabilities to serve as experts in public administration, corporate and non-governmental organizations in local, national and international settings.
