Learning Outcomes

- After having passed this module the student knows the concepts of signal processing so well that he can explain them, he can develop signal processing methods further and he can innovate products based on signal processing.

The student can analyze measurement signals so that he can determine the characteristics of a digital filter to reach the wanted goal.
The student knows the methods of image and video processing deeply.

The student can design signal interpretation systems.

The student can follow the literature of the field and apply signal processing methods found from the literature and adapt it to the task at hand.

Additional information

Signal processing covers the analysis, filtering and interpretation of various types of signals, including audio, images and video. Signal processing methods are often embedded in devices and some software systems. It is advisable to obtain good programming skills in order to be able to apply signal processing methods to such systems. Co-operation with other developers requires also communication, presentation and negotiation skills, as well as project management and leadership skills. The industry is interested in innovative engineers and therefore all self-invented hands-on experimentation with signals and images is highly advisable.

Aside from the courses listed, to complete this major, the students are required to complete the following course: TST-01907 Master's Seminar (1 cr).
