- The general objective of advanced studies in physics is to understand the structure and properties of matter and to acquire professional skills to apply physical methods and tools is different contexts. The studies give a solid experimental readiness to carry out laboratory experiments, as well as theoretical abilities to understand and apply mathematical and physical data and results.

The advanced studies in physics are divided into experimental laboratory courses and advanced theoretical courses. In the laboratory work the student further developes his/her group working skills, critical analysis of complicated experiemental results, and the writing of professional reports. Combined with the theoretical studies, the abilities of the student are extended from the understanding and analysis of physical problems towards their independent solving.

After the M.Sc. thesis work in physics the student is ready to take the responsibility of different research projects of various levels, as well as of their scheduling and successful completion. The student is capable to write a research plan for his/her project including the planning of the experimental or theoretical/numerical work. The student can independently and critically analyze scientific data and to write a report of scientific rigour.

As physics is a fundamental natural science it can be applied in an extensive fashion from technology industries to environmental science and from waste disposal to nanostructures, for example. The advanced studies in physics complete the Bachelor's level physics curriculum in a way that the qualitative and quantitative criteria for an international Master's Degree in technical physics are fulfilled. This degree responds to the needs of the society in several fields of technologies, as well as in different areas of research in academic institutions. A Master's Degree completed at least at a very good level also gives the necessary and sufficient preparation for doctoral studies in physics at any university worldwide.
