Course objectives
To develop the basic analog circuit designer skills to implement and measure basic communication circuits, such as Low Noise Amplifiers, Mixers, Voltage Controlled Oscillators, Power Amplifiers and Sampling A/D units. The course is of essential importance for communication circuit design, which is further continued by 8307030 CCM, 8307040 Seminar I, 8307050 RF-ASIC, 8307070 Mixed-Mode Communication Circuits and Modules, and 8307060 Seminar II.
Content of the course
Essentials of the design, implementation and measurements of amplifiers, oscillators and high-speed samplers. High-frequency/high-speed measurements mostly by spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope, and measurement automation by utilizing HP-VEE (GPIB) software and hardware.
Requirements
Successful completion of the theoretical exercises, laboratory coursework and written examination.
Literature
Selected chapters from various books, such as A.R. Hambley: Electronics, 2nd edition, Prentice Hall, 2000, ISBN: 0-13-691982-0. Manual for the laboratory coursework.
