Learning outcomes
The course gives the basic information on the dynamical analysis and methods of the basic switched-mode converters in such a way that the student understands the basic terminology and can analyze the dynamic constraints incorporated in the basic converters and the effect of different control principles as well as design a simple controller based on the open-loop gain.
Content
Content | Core content | Complementary knowledge | Specialist knowledge |
1. | The basics of the average and small-signal modeling and the transfer functions describing the dynamics. | General application of the methods | Load impedance effect |
2. | The effect of the different control principles on the behavior of the transfer functions: direct-duty-ratio control, peak-current-mode control, average-curent-mode control | ||
3. | Control design: direct-duty-ratio control, peak-current-mode control, average-curent-mode control |
Evaluation criteria for the course
Passing of the final examination or by homework exercises, which give the maximum grade of 'good' (3). The higher grades( 4) and (5) by the final examination.
Assessment scale:
Numerical evaluation scale (1-5) will be used on the course
