Introduction to basics of photonics. Especially optoelectronics and nanophotonics. Layred optical structures, periodic structures, waveguides, micro-cavity components, photonic crystals

4. Photonic crystals, slow light, negative refraction

FYS-6606 2012-01 Introduction to basics of photonics. Introduction to theories and fabrication of optoelectronic and photonic components. Theory is presented as background information for periodic structures. Their various applications include distributed feedback lasers, microcavities, fiber Bragg gratings and photonic crystals. Fabrication technology includes introduction to nanolithography.
