Learning Outcomes

After completing the course the student is familiar with the working methods of a project work in electronics design. These working methods are practised by planning, designing and following through a small-scale project.

Content

1. Practical situations and how to manage practical situations related to product and design projects in the electronics industry.  Making of project plans including schedules and budgeting. Follow-up and compliance of schedules and budgeting.  Deeper knowledge of electronics constructions. 
2. Electrical and mechanical design of electrical devices according to manufacturability and reliabilty.  Being part of a project group and being responsible for own assignments in cooperation with other group members.  Assimilation of design and the importance of it in electronic products.  
3. Project assignment for each group   Taking into consideration the customer point of view in a development project.   Diversification of the first-hand use of electronic design environments and measuring devices. 
4. Complete project document in an electric format including information on the project management and on the operation and structure of the device designed and executed in the project.   First-hand preparation and practice of oral presentations related to various demonstration and reporting situations of the project.   Planning the testing of the implemented device in advance and anticipating the needed corrective actions. 
5. Practical training of teamwork skills.   Communication with project clients, suppliers/subcontractors and different stakeholders.   Indentification of typical problematics in product development projects and improving cost-awareness.  

Instructions for students on how to achieve the learning outcomes

Evaluation is performed at the group-level and all essential sections will be taken into account. Final meeting, which compensates final examination, is held with each group. In the final meeting the operations of the group and its members are looked through via self-evaluation. Furthermore, the strenghts and development points of the project are discussed.

Assessment scale:

Numerical evaluation scale (1-5) will be used on the course

Completion parts must belong to the same implementation
