Learning Outcomes

Course explains the operation and design of selected Integrated Circuits for Wireless Communications. It is built to form the essential knowledge of the RF Integrated Circuits Designer. Lectures deliver the basic principles and illustrate them with examples. Auditorium exercises apply the theory on main practical importance cases, using hand-held analysis and further training on the CAD software tools. CAD tools training start with PSpice and then focuses mainly on Cadence tools to prepare the student for professional IC design. Laboratory exercises give students hands-on experience in RFIC measurement by spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, etc. Upon completing the course the student is able to: - Relate circuit specifications to real communication Integrated Circuits. - Associate different noise types and sources to Integrated Circuits components. - Apply basic skills for RF Integrated Circuits blocks in schematic level; - Use simulation tools; - Measure basic RFIC properties.
