Study Guide 2015-2016

FYS-7206 Biological Physics, 3-5 cr

Additional information

The course provides two alternating sizes. The larger one (5 cu) covers the whole material of the course. In the smaller one (3 cu) the depth of the material discussed in the course is easier, and the number and the difficulty of exercises is less challenging than in the full course. In the same spirit, the exam of the shorter (3 cu) course will be easier than in the full (5 cu) course. Only the full 5 cu version of the course is suitable for advanced studies in physics, and postgraduate studies. The 3 cu version is aimed for students from study programmes other than physics. All course material and lectures will be given in English.
Suitable for postgraduate studies

Learning Outcomes

After passing the course, the student will have a basic understanding about many physicochemical processes on a cellular level, concerning the function of both individual molecules and complexes comprised of them. The student understands to a sufficient extent the physical principles of the phenomena discussed on the course: how the function of complex biological systems can be described in the simplest possible manner using the physical principles that govern their behavior.
