Requirements

Attend to exercise classes in Period 3, pass the exam based on the lectures contents at the end of the same period and prepare a seminar in Period 4.
Completion parts must belong to the same implementation

Learning Outcomes

The aim of this course is to develop the students' skills in the visualization of three-dimensional shape of organic molecules;identify symmetry elements and draw stereochemistry of molecules; understand the importance of asymmetric synthesis; learn the basic tools for synthesis of molecules of reasonable complexity with control of stereochemistry and methods for determination of reactions' enantioselectivity.

Content

Content Core content Complementary knowledge Specialist knowledge
1. Besides a strong focus on stereochemistry, the use of chiral pool, chiral auxiliaries and asymmetric catalysis (organometallic, organocatalysis and biocatalysis) of several important transformations in organic synthesis will be explored.

Instructions for students on how to achieve the learning outcomes

Students will be graded based on the exam at the end of Period 3 and their performance in preparing a seminar in Period 4. To attend the exam, the students have to participate in more than 50% of the exercises classes in Period 3.

Assessment scale:

Numerical evaluation scale (1-5) will be used on the course

Partial passing:

Completion parts must belong to the same implementation
