Learning outcomes

To introduce literary translation to students. The aim is to give an idea of the special nature and usefulness of literary translation in relation to other studies.

Contents

Lectures, discussions and examples of literary translation. Translation and source text, translator's ethics and strategies, and the relationship between a translator and a publisher. Emphasis on the effects of visual and auditive information on translator's interpretation. Students can alternatively complete the course by taking a book exam on agreed literature.
