General description

Course familiarizes to the central thematic and methodological approaches to the research of interactive media use and users.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course a student is expected to be able to:

-distinguish central thematic and methodological approaches and application areas in IM use and users research
-evaluate critically and apply central research results in the observations of IM users and design of IM use
-evaluate and select appropriate IM use and users research methods for a certain application purposes
-implement small scale research studies on IM use and users

Contents

The course provides topical review of IM use and user research in social sciences, new media and Information Systems. The following topics will be covered: research interests and application ares of IM use and users research, central and topical methods in IM use and users research, user experience (UX), research on IM use and users in organizational context, web cultures, social media use and users, user generated content.
