Global Health, Work, & Environment (GLOWE)
The GLOWE research group conducts multidisciplinary research aimed at addressing global health challenges by focusing on the social determinants of health, the Health in All Policies approach, planetary health, and the wellbeing economy. It also examines the effects of social, occupational, and environmental factors on public health and the burden of diseases and disabilities. Established through the merger of the Global Health and Social Policy (GHSP) group and Occupational Health group, GLOWE collaborates with both international and local partners to influence public health policies and advance health equity.
GLOWE actively contributes to international health discussions, aligning its research with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The group studies how political, economic, and environmental factors impact health, wellbeing, and equity, with a particular emphasis on labor conditions and sustainability. We strive to influence social determinants of health and contribute to improvement of both human and planetary health.
Our key partners include international organizations, NGOs, and policymakers to translate research into impactful policies and programs at different levels of governance.
We are a Global Community
GLOWE consists of a diverse and globally representative community. Our students, professors, and staff come from all corners of the world, bringing unique perspectives and experiences that enrich our research and collaborative efforts. This diversity is a core strength that drives innovation and fosters inclusive solutions to global health challenges.
We Thrive on Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Research is conducted through a multidisciplinary lens, promoting collaboration between fields such as health policy, public health, social policy, epidemiology medicine, psychology, education, economics.
