Tampere University is known for its excellence in teaching and research and it collaborates with hundreds of universities and organisations worldwide. Our community consists of about 23,200 students and around 4,200 staff members from more than 80 countries.
The University was created in 2019 through a merger between the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology. Almost all internationally recognised fields of study are represented in our university.
Our collaboration with our partners is built on our strengths, unique combinations of scientific disciplines and applied expertise.
Studies at Tampere University
Tampere University is the second largest research university in Finland. More than 21,000 students study with us each year.
We offer degree programmes at all academic levels, from Bachelor's to Doctoral degrees. Focus areas in multi-disciplinary university's research and education are technology, health, and society.
Our Open University studies are open to everyone regardless of age or previous studies.

Research at our University
We carry out world-class research across disciplinary boundaries.
Tampere University brings together research expertise spanning a broad spectrum of disciplines relating to technology, health and society. Our Centres of Excellence carry out body-on-chip research and study game cultures, among other things. The University is home to more than 100 active research groups and centres, and we have countless research projects underway.
