Growing through double degree studies

Xia Chu, double degree student of bioproduct and process engineering at TAMK, graduated in 2019

It was a great pleasure to study at TAMK as a double degree student. During the studies, I was able to learn not only about my field, but also about teamwork, communication, and independent thinking – all the skills that we need in the future.

After graduation, I did my internship at UPM in China this summer. Thanks to the knowledge and skills learnt at TAMK, I was able to pass the 4 rounds of interviews and fit into working life better when it comes to working culture, teamwork and the way of dealing with everyday tasks. I was responsible for planning business activities, which required high teamwork skills. The business-related courses I have studied at TAMK helped me with communication, interactions and logical thinking when working in a team. The TAMK experience not only gave me the academic guidance, but also helped me build a clear plan for future.

The concepts that TAMK conveyed to us, such as independent thinking, active learning attitude, and lifelong learning had fundamentally changed me and altered my life! I have always believed that a broader international vision gives young people an edge to live in this age of competition and globalization with greater confidence. I am grateful of the learning experience at TAMK and am willing to take the next challenge to motivate myself. So, I applied to the master program of materials chemistry at University of Turku and was accepted! From autumn 2019, I will continue my journey with the amazing Finnish education.
