"If you enjoy nature and a peaceful city, Tampere is the best"-a student ambassador story
Tell us about yourself and your studies
My name is Sabya Sachi Biswas. I am studying master's of Science (Technology) in Biomedical Science and Engineering, majoring in Micro and Nano Devices at Tampere University.
Why did you choose your current programme?
I completed my bachelor's in electrical and electronic engineering. My bachelor's thesis is related to blood cell and its diseases, especially red blood cells. While working on that, I found myself very interested in biomedical fields, which led me to choose the current program. Also, I am interested in bio-robotics, which was also another reason.
Can you share with us your experiences in Finland and Tampere?
When I came to Finland and Tampere, for the first month the experience was not good at all. It was cold and windy. I also did not know anyone. Then I started learning about the culture and habits that Finns usually have, and I found myself again. Now I am enjoying the Finnish weather and nature, especially walks in the forest.
What kind of student activities have you participated in?
During my studies, I haven't yet had any chance to participate in student activities.
What would you say to someone planning to study and live in Tampere?
Tampere is a very nice city, and when it is summer and autumn, it looks really beautiful. If you enjoy nature and peaceful city, Tampere is the best.
What is your favourite place in the city to go for fun with friends?
There are lot of bars and restaurant in Tampere. There is also a very big shopping mall called "Ratina". For me, I don't have any favorite place. Since I am a nature person, I like the forest.
