Donations and bequests made to the Industrial Research Fund offer donors the opportunity to establish a named sub-fund. The minimum amount for setting up a fund in a donor’s name is EUR 100 000.

The Industrial Research Fund administers the following funds:
Pekka Ahonen Fund
The Fund supports research into communications and telecommunications engineering at Tampere University.
Sylvia-Hongen Avellan Fund
The Fund supports research and education at the field of materials science at Tampere University.
Professor Erkki Helamaa Fund
The Fund supports students and grants awards to graduates from the field of architecture at Tampere University.
Huawei Fund
The purpose of the Huawei Fund is to support research and education in the field of information technology through the award of grants, scholarships. and annual student recognition awards.
Memorable Day Fund
The Fund supports research and education at the field of technology at Tampere University. Companies and private persons are welcome to direct for example their memorable day greetings to the Fund.
Tuula and Yrjö Neuvo Fund
The Fund supports research and doctoral education in the field of electronics and information technology and related internationalization efforts at Tampere University.
Ragnar Granit Fund
The Fund supports research and education at the field of biomedical engineering and health technology at Tampere University.
Call for applications October 2022 (updated 11/2023):
The Ragnar Granit Fund of Industrial Research Fund at Tampere University of Technology sr awards grants to doctoral students in biomedical engineering and health technology for dissertation research. The grant is intended for the completion of a dissertation.
The recipient must be enrolled for a degree in engineering at the Doctoral School of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology. The grant amount is maximum of €2.000 per month, which is awarded for 4-12 months. The total amount of grants awarded is approximately €55.000, meaning that the deadline for applications will be open until further notice.
The free-form applications should include a CV, a research outline, a statement on the postgraduate studies completed so far, a plan for the completion of studies and the dissertation, proof of enrolment in doctoral studies, and a recommandation letter from the supervisor. Applications should also indicate the funding situation of the doctoral studies, including any other grants applied for or received.

Paavo V. Suominen Fund
The Fund supports research carried out at Tampere University in refrigeration engineering and related fields, such as research that focuses on the energy efficiency of buildings, machines and processes or explores thermal engineering or fluid dynamics. The fund provides annual grants for thesis and dissertation research in these fields and may also provide travel grants for university staff and PhD students to attend conferences abroad in these fields. Grants are awarded on the recommendation of a professor in the field and the application period id continuous. Each year, the Fund awards 200 euros to all pupils who graduate from the upper secondary schools in Tampere City Region and achieve the highest grade in the matriculation examination in mathematics (advanced syllabus).
Raija and Tapani Tuominen Fund
The Fund gives out an annual award to the best thesis written in the field of structural engineering or building physics at Tampere University.
