Ecological responsibility
Our goal is to create solutions to curb climate change and to protect the natural environment as well as to consider the thriving of the environment and biodiversity in all operations. Tampere Universities have pledged to become carbon neutral by 2030.
Social and cultural responsibility
The aim of Tampere Universities is to promote equality and non-discrimination in society. We cherish the know-how and well-being of everyone in our community. Our actions reflect our respect for diversity and esteem for different people, fields and traditions.
Financial responsibility
The universities community plans and monitors its finances responsibly and with foresight. Responsibility is also a key element of our investments.
Sustainable Tampere Universities’ Network
Sustainable Tampere Universities’ network is committed to enhance sustainability performances in teaching, research and daily life at Tampere Universities. The network is divided into five sub-groups on Campus biodiversity and green campuses; Communication for sustainable development; Sustainable food on campuses; Travelling; Sustainable everyday life. Sustainable Tampere Universities’ network started its work in 2021 with 30 members representing the whole university community. The working pool had been enriched with new members stepping in summer 2022. The Network has become a sharing platform for all people interested in sustainability issues for the purpose of fostering sustainable living within university community.
Sustainable development commitments and memberships
Tampere Universities promote the UN Sustainable Development Goals in areas relevant to their operations. The title of Fairtrade University also connotes the sustainable and responsible operations of our community.
