This photo is so special to me it was taken at Tampere university on the first day of study by now one of my close friends from Nigeria.

Tell us about yourself and your studies

Hi, I am Richa! I am from India and came to Tampere in August 2022 after completing my bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering. I am currently in the first year of the master's degree program in Human-Computer Interaction.

Did you develop any special skills while studying in Tampere?

I am now more open to talking to people, and everyone genuinely tries their best to guide me. It has helped me a lot in developing my social skills. Designing my own study calendar and managing my time have made me more active and confident.

What tips would you give to new students who are applying to study here?

Select the course to which you want to apply and go through the requirements. Get your English-speaking test score and the documents (for example your transcripts) ready. Apply as soon as possible so that you can track the progress, because if wait too close to the deadline you might miss something! Go through the country-specific requirements on the course page you want to apply to, and check if there is anything else you need to send. Always try to mail the admission department in case of a query. In the end, believe in yourself and try to be proactive.

How do you get around the city?

The travel within the city is so smooth! I usually use trams, but buses are also a good option.

What is your favourite thing about the student culture in Finland?

The independence we get to plan our studies and the practical approach of learning through workshop and lab sessions. We get to meet a lot of students from different cultures and backgrounds which helps us to grow as a person in our personal life.
