Lauri Kokkinen

Research Director

About me

My research focuses on key social determinants of health and wellbeing, such as the labor market and the welfare state.

Responsibilities

I devote half my time to research leadership and the other half to teaching. I lead the Health and Wellbeing Systems group and serve as a co-director of the WHO Collaborating Centre at Tampere University. I teach courses on social and health policy at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, and advice students at all academic levels.

Fields of expertise

My theoretical expertise centers around the institutional foundations of population health and wellbeing, making me an institutionalist. Methodologically, I have a diverse range of approaches, often utilizing data from registers, questionnaires, interviews, and documents in my research.
