Online event on the development of the Tulli area in Tampere

The first event on Wednesday, 23 March 2022 from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m., will focus on the development of Tampere city centre as well as the development projects of the Tulli and Deck area, which are part of the Five-star city centre development project. The first part of the Deck area, a multi-purpose arena with residential towers, has already been finished. Development along the main line will continue with the Asemakeskus project. The old industrial and warehouse area Tulli is also part of the project. The objective is to create a diverse and vibrant city district.

Questions to experts can be sent in advance

The objective of the discussions is to increase information about urban development and the role of campuses, and to highlight opportunities for cooperation in connection with higher education institution courses and theses. Another important perspective is the consideration of student-friendliness in the development of the city. During the event, urban development experts will answer the participants’ questions, and it is also possible to send questions in advance.

City of Tampere’s experts, staff from Tampere University’s Sustainable Urban Development degree programme and campus development experts will speak at the event. Deputy Mayor Pekka Salmi will say a few words at the opening of the event. Other speakers include Project Development Manager Henri Väänänen, University Lecturers Markus Laine and Salla Jokela, Director of Campus Development Satu Hyökki, and Coordinator of University Cooperation Max Liikka.

The event will be held in Microsoft Teams on Wednesday, 23 March 2022 from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. The event is free of charge and open to all.
