Asst. Prof. Gokhan Alcan

Gokhan Alcan received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechatronics Engineering from Sabanci University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2015 and 2019, respectively. In 2019, he was a postdoctoral researcher in the Control, Vision, and Robotics Research Group at Sabanci University. In 2020-2023, he was a postdoctoral researcher in the Intelligent Robotics Research Group at Aalto University, Finland. Since 2024, he is currently an Assistant Professor of Robotics and Machine Learning with Tampere University, Finland. His primary research interests are safe model predictive control, constrained optimal control theory, system identification/machine learning, and their applications to dynamical systems.

Assoc. Prof. Hao Zeng

Dr. Hao Zeng is currently holding a tenure-track position as an Associate Professor of Soft Matter Robotics at Tampere University. Dr. Zeng leads a research Group Light Robots. https://research.tuni.fi/lightrobots/. He obtained the PhD degree in photonics from Florence University in 2015. Then he carried out postdoctoral research in Finland between 2016 and 2021. In 2021, he obtained the  title of Academy Research Fellow from Academy of Finland. His research includes light-responsive polymers, micro robots and non-equilibrium soft matters. In 2022 he received ERC Starting Grant with a project on light communicative materials. He is ranked top 1 % scientist in Physical Sciences and Mathematics (ScholarGPS, 2018-2023), and top 2% scientist in all field in 2023 based on Elsevier report.

Dr. Antonia Ressler

Antonia Ressler is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Tampere Institute of Advanced Study. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Zagreb in 2020 with a thesis focused on biomaterials for bone tissue engineering applications. In 2020, she was awarded the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Award for her contributions to science. Following her Ph.D., she was granted a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship for the project AffordBones, and after completing fellowship, she continued as a Fellow at the Tampere Institute of Advanced Study with the project GlassBoneS. She was ranked among the top 2% of scientists across all fields in 2023, according to the Elsevier report. Dr. Ressler aims to develop affordable, customizable solutions for maxillofacial bone augmentation, essential for dental implants in patients with insufficient bone structure.

 Assoc. Prof. Iñigo Flores Ituarte

Iñigo Flores Ituarte is an Associate Professor in Digital Manufacturing at Tampere University, Finland. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Aalto University in 2017. He served in various academic roles, including Assistant Professor at Aalborg University in Denmark and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Singapore University of Technology and Design. Currently, Dr. Flores Ituarte holds dual roles as an Associate Professor in Digital Manufacturing at Tampere University and as an Academy Research Fellow under the Research Council of Finland. He also co-founded SelectAM, a Finland-based company where he serves as a Strategy Advisor, further extending his commitment to the practical and strategic aspects of advanced manufacturing. Dr. Flores Ituarte’s research centers on enhancing digital design to manufacturing workflows through the fusion of engineering design, artificial intelligence (AI), monitoring technologies and IoT, advanced manufacturing technologies, optimization-driven design, and data-driven predictive modeling. His research vision is to seamlessly unify digital design, materials science, and manufacturing into cohesive systems that can predict and optimize the process-structure-property-performance linkages. By doing so, he aims to contribute to sustainability in manufacturing and innovative practices, enhancing zero-waste, and zero-defect strategies.
