About me
At the moment, I work at Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) as a part-time teacher and production manager. I am also a private guitar instructor (https://www.kaksikitaraa.com/sivu/kitaratunnit), performing artist, and author of the Persvakomuusikot book (https://www.facebook.com/Persvakomuusikot).
During my career, I have mostly worked on concepting, designing, and evaluating different types of entertainment-related user interfaces, applications, and games. These include, e.g., UIs for location-based applications and music recommendation services, games reacting to their background music or other media content, visualizations for accessing music collections, educational music games, and music creation applications for novice players. I have also authored 33 academic publications and filed 62 patent applications mainly on these topics. My current research interests include XR, virtual travelling, entertainment for social and healthcare, UX, and music.
My Doctor of Science thesis titled “Visualizing Musical Metadata: Concepts, User Studies, and Design Implications” is available for download at http://urn.fi/URN:ISBN:978-952-15-2908-5.
