About me

I work as a staff scientist in the unit of Materials Science and Environmental Engineering, which belongs to the faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of Tampere University. I’m responsible of the research infrastructure and analytical equipment of the sub-unit of Bio and Circular Economy (BIC) together with the rest of the laboratory team.

I have an educational background in environmental engineering (PhD 2021, TAU), aquatic ecology (MSc 2010, QMUL) and laboratory engineering (2009, Piramk). I have gained lot of analytical and experimental experience while working as a laboratory technician for an ophthalmological company, and in different research-related tasks in national and international research facilities in the field of natural sciences and environmental engineering. In 2020–2022, I worked as a clay specialist and a project leader (IPMA level D) in the field of hazardous waste management.   

Responsibilities

  • Research support (e.g., helping in planning of projects and experiments, developing methods, interpreting data)
  • Coordination of the use of BIC’s laboratories and equipment in Festia and Konetalo hall 5
  • Maintenance and users’ training of BIC’s analytical equipment
  • Planning and processing the procurement for BIC's laboratories
  • Planning of BIC’s research facilities in Sähkötalo Research Hub project 

Fields of expertise

Instrumental analytics (e.g., gas and liquid chromatography, spectrophotometry, atomic spectroscopy, mass spectrometry), microbiological methods, aerobic methane oxidation, sulfate reduction, disposal of spent nuclear fuel, bentonite mechanical evolution, soil-microbial interactions.
