The project develops the operational preconditions of industrial business networks. The extension of industrial operations into ecosystems covering several companies requires joint information systems where internet and platform economy can be a part of the solution. The project develops of a cloud based solution for improving the collaboration and information exhange in international business networks.
Background
The project will investigate 2 business networks and utilizes workshops, interviews and piloting of developed models. Tampere University participates specifically to work packages Framework for networked business and Conceptualization of operations management system.
Goal
Manufacturing industry is increasingly networked. The coordination and control of networked production is specifically challenging and there are few ready made solutions for the task. Many of the earlier studies investigate the use of digital technologies from the viewpoint of individual companies. This project highlights networked business and the provision of digital information overlapping organizational boundaries.
This project aims to: 1) Improve the competitiveness of companies by facilitating the initiation and control of collaboration between companies. 2) Lower the costs of networked business by paying more attention to transactional costs 3) Improve the joint performance of companies by improving the flexibility, responsiveness and quality of business networks.
The final result of the whole project will be a commercial cloud based solution for business networks. Research results will be reported in scientific articles.
