Today’s university graduates build their lives and futures in a completely different circumstances than the previous student generations. In this project, we study the expectations and resources of social sciences and humanities students when they are about to graduate. We apply visual methods and empathy-based stories to study the students’ experiences about transition. The sociology of personal life provides analytical tools to study individual experiences, feelings and actions within historical and spatial social contexts. The data was collected at the University of Tampere and the University of Barcelona during the academic year of 2014 /15. The data consists of pictures and narratives produced by 55 students.
