Digital hydraulics research group

The digital hydraulics research group studies new energy efficient and high performance actuator solutions. The approaches are digital hydraulics, advanced control methods and hydraulic hybrids. The group has been founded in 2000.

Research focus and goals

Hydraulic actuators are used e.g. in working machines because of their reliability and high power density. Traditional solutions have poor energy efficiency and the annual fuel consumption of typical working machine is from 20 000 to 50 000 litres. The main objective of the research group is to improve energy efficiency and performance of working machines significantly.
