Network at the Doctoral School's events

The Doctoral School organises many events throughout the academic year. In our events, the doctoral researchers receive information, gain tools for research and opportunities for collaboration. We cover topical issues such as doctoral studies, research funding, and finding the dream job after your doctorate. For example, at our Orientation Day you get to connect and network with other doctoral researchers. You can participate in most of our events also online.

Orientation Day

We start each semester with an Orientation Day for our doctoral researchers. During the event, we present our wide course offering and introduce Tampere University as your research environment. In addition, we share tips on research funding, supervision of doctoral dissertation and the wide range of services available to you. The orientation material is available to you throughout your doctoral studies.

Open lectures

Throughout the year, we organise open lectures on topics such as writing journal articles, the integrative chapter of an article-based dissertation or a monograph dissertation. We choose the themes collectively to support the work and life of doctoral researcher. The guest speakers, The Doctoral School's staff and your peers discuss current issues in doctoral studies and share useful tips for research.

TG-Doctoral School is an active Teams Group for all doctoral researchers

The open Teams Group is a platform for news on courses, trainings, events and networking. All doctoral researchers from Tampere University's seven faculties can join the group. Conversations, experiences and suggestions on doctoral education and research are welcomed.

PhD Supervisors' Coffee

The coffee meetings for supervisors provide a venue for formal and informal discussions on doctoral research. We share the latest trends in doctoral supervision and tools for developing transferable skills in doctoral studies. The meetings are led by expert speakers who provide their knowledge on high quality supervision.
