Area of focusTechnology

The creation, processing and transmission of digital information using ever-evolving technologies is transforming and enhancing all industries, including agriculture. Implementing a Fair Data Economy in Agriculture (IFDEA) project develops tools for data utilization, understanding, and discoverability to (1) visualize business processes, data flows and assess their feasibility (2) collect data sources in the agricultural sector, their meta-descriptions, utilization examples, and (3) to describe data sharing rules (rulebook), which also launches a process to agree on fair data economy rules for the agricultural sector. In addition, the project will create (4) a prototype and demonstration of community-based data evaluation and exploitation.

The project will make a significant contribution to Finnish abilities to participate in the development of the European Common Agricultural Data Space and Gaia-X infrastructure and rules, as well as its application in the agriculture sector in Finland. The results of the project will promote the implementation of a fair data economy in agriculture and accelerate the digitalisation of farm enterprises and the transition to a data economy. The results support AgriHubi's operations by providing concrete data-related tools to be utilized, promoting the expertise of Finnish agricultural sector actors in data management and exploitation, and collecting and utilizing high-quality data in developing artificial intelligence solutions in accordance with fair data economy rules.
