The project investigates the policy and social relevance of neuroscience from the point of view of philosophy of science and ethics. Neuroeconomics of choice and utility and neuroscience of addiction are used as case studies.
Goal
The aim is to clarify the best ways of integrating such studies with the scientific knowledge on the broader social context. From the philosophy of science perspective, the question is how knowledge of neural mechanisms is to be embedded in theories and models of social mechanisms. From the ethics perspective, the questions concern the relevance of neuroscience to the justification of interventions and legislation concerning consumer behavior and addictions.
