The Multimodal Interaction Research Group (MMIG) focuses on constructive and experimental research into combining interaction modalities within human-technology interaction. MMIG invents new technologies, studies technologies in controlled experiments, and creates functional solutions together with partners. The aim is to carry out enabling research to allow increasing use of latest interaction technologies in real everyday systems.
Our group is part of Tampere Unit for Computer-Human Interaction.
Our vision
Through the multimodal technologies created and studied, interaction in the future will be as natural and as fluent as possible. Smart systems will have visual, auditive, haptic, olfactory and even gustatory modalities to communicate with their human users. The systems will interpret all human actions as their input, supported by networked information and AI systems.
