Tampere Centre for Childhood, Youth and Family Research PERLA is a multidisciplinary research centre that collaborates with researchers, societal actors and professionals, and facilitates research and collaboration of the field. PERLA wants to enhance the discussion about children, youth and family.
Research focus and goals
PERLA was founded in 2014 and its horisontal operation consists of maintaining a researcher network, composing ideas for research projects, organising teaching events such as open research seminars. Further, PERLA informs and keeps in touch with other actors of the field.
Through its function, PERLA is contributing to multidisciplinary research, connecting people and enhancing the discussion about children, youth and family.
PERLA works to improve the quality of childhood, youth and family research at Tampere University, to strengthen connections between scholars from different disciplines within the university and beyond, and to highlight the importance of childhood, youth and family issues also more generally in the society. The centre sets out to advance the well-being and social standing of children, youth and families. Research covers a wide range of topics and empirical contexts, theoretical and methodological starting points, as well as research methods.
