Research focus and goals
Podcasts have quickly become a popular media format among professionals, public actors, and the general public. The popularity of podcasts reflects the nature of today’s media environment: textual forms are replaced by the different compositions of image, sound, and text. Although multimediality is already a self-evident phenomenon, its long-term effects cannot yet be seen. The project examines what makes podcasts a unique media form and what is the overall role of audio media in digital media platforms. The project is led by Professor Tarja Rautiainen-Keskustalo. The researchers in the project are Anna Eveliina Hänninen, Jasmina Kolehmainen, Aapo Partanen and Mitja Virikko.
