Protein Dynamics

The research group led by Dr. Vesa Hytönen combines computational methods and functional cell assays to understand how proteins convert mechanical signals to cellular response. We utilize molecular dynamics simulations to model molecular processes in atomistic resolution and apply the information to design engineered proteins in order to understand and control cell behavior.

We develop innovative solutions to fight against infectious diseases. These include novel molecular tools for diagnostics as well as new vaccines against infectious diseases using virus-like particles. Vaccine research is closely integrated into TIE platform.

Our experience in avidin-biotin technology and biofunctionalization of materials has been utilized in projects ranging from biofunctionalized inks to hydrogels and sensors.

We operate as a part of international research network which provides us access to wide array of methods and boosts cross-disciplinary research. Biocenter Finland infrastructure is integral part of our operation.
