Applied research infrastructure

Our diverse research infrastructure provides an opportunity to brainstorm, test and develop services and products. Laboratories in different fields are utilised, for example, in measurement, analysis and quality assurance. The laboratories also provide services to companies, communities and educational institutions. In our development work, we also use modern co-creation methods and environments, Living Labs, where user-oriented experiments are carried out in real-life settings.

Wide-ranging laboratory services

Our services include various product and service development, analysis and quality assurance services as well as consultation. Typical assignments include, for example, construction, mechanical and electrical measurements, environmental monitoring, and analysis and testing tasks in various fields. Some of our laboratories also rent out their facilities and equipment.

User-oriented development in Living Labs

A Living Lab can be either a method or a service and product development environment where user-oriented experiments are carried out in real situations. This ensures that the service or product meets the needs of the users.  Living Labs are an integral part of our research, development and innovation activities.

We apply Living Lab methods in learning and development infrastructures located on campuses, in different parts of the Tampere region with partners, and as part of national and international projects.
