Research focus and goals
We investigate the epistemic, social and societal dimensions of scientific knowledge production and formation of expertise. Our focus is on how the transformations of the science-society relationship shape research practices, academic identities, scientific ideals and disciplinary boundaries. We pay special attention to disciplinary and institutional contexts as well as local, regional and national settings. The research areas include academic work, affects and temporalities; women and science; expertise and ignorance; and struggles over legitimate knowledge.
Science studies group works in close interaction with researchers from other units at Tampere University and beyond and coordinates STI Tampere network.
