Juho Saari: Snapshot of a Thriving Society. This project assesses the changes that have taken place in Finnish society since the 2000s and will be completed in late 2024.
Juho Saari: People on the Steps of Society. This project explores how status differences affect quality of life and shape opinions and will be completed in early 2025.
Juho Saari: The Welfare State in the Melting Pot. This project explores changes in the institutional structures of social and health policies during the government’s term. The project will be completed in late 2024.
Juho Saari: The Swimming Hall. This project examines the role of swimming halls within Finnish society and social policy. The project is conducted in collaboration with the University of Helsinki (Professor Mika Pantzar) and the University of Jyväskylä (Professor Sakari Taipale).
Juho Saari: Funding the Welfare State. This project is part of the INVEST flagship, which examines the transformation of the welfare state throughout the 2000s towards an approach emphasising social skills and social investments. The project is a comparative historical study and will be completed in the autumn of 2025.
Lauri Kokkinen: Explaining Nordic Exceptionalism Using Fuzzy Sets. The project explores the reasons behind the high life satisfaction in the Nordic countries. The project utilises a methodology based on set theory to examine the intertwining and combined effects of the government, markets and civic society.
Lauri Kokkinen: GIG-OSH: Occupational Safety and Health in European Platform Economy. This project explores the health and safety of platform economy workers across Europe. The project includes quantitative and qualitative cohort studies covering seven countries in Europe and an analysis of the institutional environments in these countries.
Lauri Kokkinen: WHO Collaborating Centre on Health in All Policies and the Social Determinants of Health. This project examines the implementation of the Health in All Policies (HiAP) approach. The project will develop related assessment methods, provide evidence through research, expand training opportunities and conduct studies commissioned by WHO and other UN agencies.
Jutta Pulkki: The Longevity Revolution – Implications for the Need and Costs of Health and Social Services (COCTEL). Launched in 2004, the project studies the use of health and social services among older adults in Finland and the related costs as our population ages and the service system evolves. Data is derived from multiple national registers. The research data is currently being updated until the end of 2024.
Jutta Pulkki: Adapting to and mitigating climate change in nursing (Isohoito, 2024-2026). This project will identify and disseminate good practices and solutions for adapting to and mitigating climate change within the social and healthcare sector. The project is coordinated by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
